Our expertly crafted Helix Kits provide you with an affordable alternative to costly custom builds by others and provide superior strength and stability over currently available mass-produced plastic kits or those made with cheaper materials.
Fabricated using high quality plywood and dimensional lumber, our new Helix Kits are offered in both HO Scale and N Scale versions. Single or double track versions are available in both scales, and the radii of our Helix Kits are designed to provide reliable operation and reduced grades. We’ve done all the tedious math work for you and made assembling a Model Railroad Helix easier than ever.
Unique 12-Sided Dodecagon Design
Each of our Helix Kits come with 12 pre-assembled main bents which ensures a precise grade for your Helix without having to deal with threaded rods and nuts for adjustment. Our ½” thick plywood sub-roadbed, as opposed to ¼” from others, combined with the increased bent supports, ensures that there is no sagging throughout the entire Helix. This ensures a consistent grade and increases operational reliability of your Model Railroad Helix.
Both the HO and N Scale versions are available with either 4-1/2 or 5-1/2 total turns for flexibility in designing your levels.
Total rise for our N Scale Helix Kits is either 14-5/8” or 17-7/8”, and 20-1/4” or 24-3/4” for our HO Scale Helix Kits.
Practical Design Options
Our N Scale Helix Kits come in two versions, large and small, with corresponding radii of 22” or 26” for the single-track versions, and 21”/23” or 25”/27” for the double track versions.
Our HO Scale Helix Kits offer either a 31” radius for the single-track version, or 31”/34” radius for the double track version.
N Scale grades are between 1.99% and 2.46%, and HO Scale grades are 2.11% and 2.31%.
Unequaled Ease of Assembly
Assembly is quick, thanks to our self-aligning sub-roadbed pieces and pre-drilled pilot holes. Using a power drill driver, you should be able to have a completed Helix in a weekend or less. The only limiting factor is how long it takes you to lay the track as you work your way up the levels.

Complete Helix Solutions for Your Model Railroad
We didn’t just stop at designing a Helix Kit for your Model Railroad, leaving you with the complicated task of designing and building a suitable support for it: as a complement to our Model Railroad Helix Kits, we offer Complete Helix Table Kits also.
These specially designed benchwork sections provide the necessary support for your Helix and provide unobstructed access to the interior of the Helix once it’s built. They assemble easily in about two hours using the same innovative assembly techniques as our regular Benchwork and Table Kits and will save you both time and money over designing and building it yourself.
Each Complete Helix Table Kit also comes with (4) pre-assembled legs with two diagonal braces each, and threaded steel insert leg levelers installed so you can achieve a perfectly level surface for your helix: a must for precise and consistent grades.
