Introducing our new Digital Benchwork Plan Packages™ from The Model Railroad Benchwork Store.
These comprehensive Digital Benchwork Plan Packages provide all the necessary information to fabricate and construct your Model Railroad Table according to the same high design standards as our renowned Complete Table Kits.
Each package features proprietary, computer-generated cut lists and detailed shop drawings, including overall material dimensions, measurements for every component, and exact locations for holes and assembly markings where applicable. All measurements are tailored to the specific table size, accurate to within 1/16″, ensuring optimal fit and performance. These specifications are based on the overall engineered design of our Complete Table Kits.

The Digital Benchwork Plan Packages include two categories of drawings: Assembly Drawings and Part Drawings. Assembly Drawings may depict either single pieces or assemblies composed of multiple components, while Part Drawings identify each individual part utilized in those assemblies.
To further assist in the fabrication process, packages also contain photographs of actual parts and completed assemblies, eliminating uncertainty throughout construction. A master cut list is provided with every set, allowing quick reference to part identification, lengths, quantities, and the required number of assembly screws for final table assembly.

Additionally, each package contains detailed, illustrated instructions for assembling your Model Railroad Table once all parts have been prepared.

Fabrication can be accomplished using common power hand tools such as a circular saw, drill, and palm sander. For increased accuracy, we recommend a table saw for ripping plywood (especially for Sides and Ends) and a miter saw for crosscutting. A drill press supports more precise drilling, and a router is beneficial for quickly rounding edges.
Material selection is at the discretion of the user; however, we advise using ¾” cabinet-grade plywood such as birch or maple for Sides and Ends to ensure straightness and stability. Remaining components may be constructed from dimensional lumber, preferably knot free high-quality kiln-dried species like pine or whitewood. The use of hardwood is discouraged, as end-fastening may cause splitting.
A general knowledge of woodworking is required for fabricating the necessary parts and assemblies; alternatively, you may provide the plans to an acquaintance or a professional woodworking shop for fabrication.
As an exclusive offering from The Model Railroad Benchwork Store, we are confident that our Digital Benchwork Plan Packages represent the most thorough and detailed solution available for constructing your Model Railroad Table.
