Digital Benchwork Plan Packages

Introducing our new Digital Benchwork Plan PackagesTM from The Model Railroad Benchwork Store!

These highly detailed Digital Benchwork Plan Packages provide you with the information you need to fabricate and build your Model Railroad Table to the same design standards as our popular Complete Table Kits.

Utilizing our custom in house designed computer generated cut list, each individual shop drawing includes details such as overall material size and measurements for each piece, and precise measurements for locations of holes and assembly markings, if applicable.

These measurements are unique to each size table and are dimensioned to within 1/16” to ensure proper fit up and function and are based on the overall engineered design of our Complete Table Kits.

Our Digital Benchwork Plan Packages include two different types of drawings in each package: Assembly Drawings, and Part Drawings, for a total of 15 shop drawing pages.

Assembly Drawings can be either a single piece, or a combination of Parts to make an Assembly.

Parts drawings are individual components that make up a complete Assembly.

13 photos of actual parts and assemblies are also included in each Digital Benchwork Plan Packageto assist you in the fabrication process leaving nothing to guess about.

Additionally, a master cut list is also provided with each set of Digital Benchwork Plans for quick reference which outlines parts identification, length, quantity, and number of assembly screws for the final Table assembly process.

And we also include 9 pages of detailed illustrated instructions on how to assemble your Model Railroad Table once all parts have been fabricated.

Actual fabrication of the parts can be accomplished with power hand tools such as a circular saw, drill, and palm sander.

However, a table saw is far more accurate for ripping if you choose to use plywood for the Sides and Ends as recommended below, and a miter saw will yield better crosscuts.

A drill press allows for more accurate drilling of holes, and a router is useful for rounding edges quickly and easily.

Actual material type is left up to the end user. However, we recommend ¾” cabinet grade plywood such as birch or maple for the Sides and Ends to ensure straightness and stability. Remaining Assemblies/Parts can utilize dimensional lumber, but a knot free high-quality kiln dried species such as pine or whitewood is recommended. Avoid hardwood, as fasteners driven into the ends can cause splitting.

Fabrication of the parts and assemblies for your Model Railroad Table requires a general knowledge of woodworking and can be accomplished with a minimum of tools as listed above. Alternately, the plans can be provided to a friend or woodworking shop for fabrication.

With 17 basic sizes to choose from, and custom sizing available on request, you have endless possibilities when it comes to building the Model Railroad empire of your dreams.

Another exclusive offering from The Model Railroad Benchwork Store, we are confident that you will not find a more comprehensive or detailed set of plans for fabricating and building your Model Railroad Table from any other manufacturer.
