Benchwork Builder Pro Refund and Cancellation Policy
Effective date: July 2026
This policy applies to purchases of Benchwork Builder Pro™ downloadable Windows software and its associated individual personal-use license.
Benchwork Builder Pro is a digitally delivered software product. Each license is issued to the purchaser named on the order and is authorized for one individual user on one computer.
Please review the product description, system requirements, licensing restrictions, and this policy before purchasing.
Cancellation Before the License Key Is Issued
A customer may request cancellation for a full refund when the request is received before the individual Benchwork Builder Pro license key has been issued.
This applies even when the customer has received the download link, provided that the license key has not yet been issued.
To request cancellation, contact:
Include:
- Purchaser name
- Email address used during checkout
- Ecwid order number
- A brief statement requesting cancellation
Because license keys are issued manually, customers should submit cancellation requests as soon as possible.
A cancellation request is not complete until it has been received and acknowledged.
Refunds After a License Key Has Been Issued
Once an individual license key has been issued, the purchase is ordinarily non-refundable.
The license key provides access to a digitally delivered, individually licensed product and cannot be returned in the same manner as unused physical merchandise.
A refund may nevertheless be approved under one of the limited exceptions described below.
Circumstances That May Qualify for a Refund
Duplicate Purchase
A refund may be issued when the same customer accidentally purchases the same Benchwork Builder Pro license more than once.
The duplicate license must not have been shared, transferred, activated for another user, or used on an additional computer.
Wrong Product Purchased
A refund may be considered when:
- The customer purchased Benchwork Builder Pro by mistake
- The software has not been activated
- The license key has not been shared or transferred
- The request is submitted promptly
The customer should identify the product that was intended to be purchased.
Failure to Deliver the Purchased Product
A refund may be considered when the customer cannot obtain the purchased software or license key and reasonable support efforts do not resolve the delivery problem.
Customers must first allow a reasonable opportunity to:
- Verify the order
- Resend the license email
- Provide a replacement download link
- Correct an incorrect email address
- Resolve an Ecwid delivery problem
An expired download link alone does not automatically qualify for a refund because a replacement link can normally be provided after purchase verification.
Verified Software Defect
A refund may be considered when Benchwork Builder Pro has a reproducible software defect that:
- Prevents a core advertised function from operating
- Occurs on a supported Windows configuration
- Is not caused by unsupported hardware, third-party software, or customer settings
- Cannot be corrected through reasonable troubleshooting
- Cannot be resolved through a replacement build or update within a reasonable period
The customer must provide enough information to reproduce and investigate the problem.
This may include:
- Windows version
- Benchwork Builder Pro version
- Exact error message
- Screenshots
- Project inputs
- Steps that produce the problem
- Printer or hardware details when relevant
A refund is not automatically required merely because a defect report has been submitted. The reported behavior must first be evaluated.
Product Materially Different From Its Description
A refund may be considered when the delivered product is materially different from the product description that was displayed at the time of purchase.
Minor appearance differences, interface preferences, or a customer’s expectation of an unadvertised feature do not constitute material misdescription.
Rights Required by Applicable Law
Nothing in this policy excludes, limits, or replaces any refund, cancellation, warranty, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.
When applicable law requires a different result, the legally required right or remedy will apply.
Requests That Ordinarily Do Not Qualify
A refund will not ordinarily be issued for:
- A change of mind after the license key has been issued
- Deciding that the software is no longer needed
- Lack of time to use the product
- Lack of woodworking, computer, or printing experience
- Failure to read the product description
- Failure to review the system requirements before purchasing
- Attempting to use the software on an unsupported operating system
- Attempting to use the software on macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, a mobile device, or an unsupported ARM computer
- Restrictions imposed by an employer, school, organization, managed computer, or Windows S mode
- Local antivirus, firewall, network, printer, printer-driver, or Windows configuration problems
- Failure to maintain an internet connection for activation or periodic license validation
- Attempting to activate the license on more than one computer
- Providing an incorrect purchaser name or activation information
- Unauthorized sharing or commercial use
- Suspension or revocation caused by violation of the Software License and Terms of Use
- Expecting architectural, structural-engineering, building-code, or professional certification
- Expecting features or services that were not included in the published product description
- Preferring a different workflow, interface design, drawing style, or output arrangement
- Failure to save backup copies of the installer, project files, or exported PDFs
- Loss of customer-created files
- Normal differences among printers, PDF viewers, screen settings, or Windows configurations
A local direct-printing problem does not necessarily mean that the core drawing-generation system is defective. When appropriate, customers may export the drawing set as a PDF and print it through their normal PDF viewer while the cause of the direct-printing problem is investigated.
Fourteen-Day Request Period
Refund requests should be submitted within 14 calendar days of the original purchase date.
Submitting a request within 14 days does not automatically guarantee approval. The request must qualify under this policy or applicable law.
Requests submitted after 14 days may still be considered when:
- Applicable law requires consideration
- A verified defect could not reasonably have been discovered earlier
- Support requested additional time for testing
- Exceptional circumstances justify further review
Technical Support Before a Defect Refund
When a refund is requested because of a technical problem, the customer must provide a reasonable opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.
Possible resolutions may include:
- Installation assistance
- Activation or license reset
- Replacement download link
- Corrected project settings
- Printer or PDF guidance
- Documentation clarification
- Updated software file
- Replacement build
- Software correction
Refusing reasonable diagnostic steps may prevent verification of the reported defect.
Customers are not required to provide unrestricted remote access to their computers. Troubleshooting may normally be performed through email, screenshots, error messages, and test instructions.
How to Request a Refund
Send the request to:
Use a subject line such as:
Benchwork Builder Pro Refund Request — Order [Order Number]
Include:
- Purchaser name
- Checkout email address
- Ecwid order number
- Purchase date
- License key, when already issued
- Whether the software has been activated
- Reason for the request
- Error messages or screenshots, when applicable
- Troubleshooting steps already attempted
Additional purchase verification may be requested before a refund is approved.
Approved Refunds
Approved refunds will normally be returned through the original payment method when technically available.
The amount returned will generally be the amount received for the refunded product, including applicable taxes collected for that transaction.
Payment processors, card issuers, banks, and international payment systems may require additional processing time before the credit appears in the customer’s account.
Currency-conversion differences, bank charges, or third-party transaction fees outside the seller’s control may affect the final amount shown by the customer’s financial institution.
Effect of a Refund
When a refund is approved after a license key has been issued:
- The license key may be revoked or disabled
- The customer must stop using Benchwork Builder Pro
- The software must be uninstalled
- Installer copies must be deleted
- The license key must not be retained, shared, sold, or transferred
- The refunded license may not be activated again
- Generated materials may not continue to be used in a manner requiring an active license
A refund does not provide the right to retain and continue using the software, license key, documentation, or proprietary drawing-generation system.
Partial Refunds
Partial refunds are not normally offered for Benchwork Builder Pro because it is delivered as one integrated software and documentation package.
A partial refund may be issued only when:
- Required by law
- Correcting an identifiable billing error
- Resolving a duplicate charge
- Specifically approved in writing
Chargebacks and Unauthorized Transactions
Customers who do not recognize a charge should contact support promptly so the order can be investigated.
A customer may also contact the payment provider or card issuer regarding a genuinely unauthorized transaction.
Customers are encouraged to contact support before initiating a payment dispute concerning a product or technical issue so there is an opportunity to resolve the matter directly.
Nothing in this section restricts any legally protected right to dispute an unauthorized or improper charge.
License Violations
A customer is not entitled to a refund merely because a license has been suspended or revoked for:
- Sharing the software or license key
- Installing the software on unauthorized computers
- Commercial or organizational use
- Reverse engineering
- Circumventing activation
- Distributing generated drawings improperly
- Violating the Software License and Terms of Use
Refund approval does not waive claims or remedies arising from unauthorized copying, distribution, commercial use, or other license violations.
Policy Updates
This policy may be updated to reflect:
- Changes to Benchwork Builder Pro
- Changes to the delivery or licensing process
- Payment-processor requirements
- Customer-support improvements
- Applicable legal requirements
The policy displayed at the time of purchase will generally govern that transaction, except where a later policy is more favorable to the customer or applicable law requires otherwise.
